I got the priveledge to write mom's obituary. It is so difficult to sum up her life in a few paragraphs. She had so many different seasons, so many different tasks (I like to call these missions...because they all were little missions from God) and she reached so many different people. I tried my best and here is the result:

Hope Shaw, 61, of Manassas, VA, passed from this life into her eternal home on Monday, September 10, 2012. Hope was born on August 7, 1951 at Dover Hospital in Parsippany, NJ not far from a community called Mount Tabor where she grew up. She was the third child of Hope and Henry Henes. They provided a loving home where they instilled the values of charity and humility in her life. In June of 1971, Hope married William (Bill) Shaw. When they first met, Bill impressed Hope with his kindness and his love for family; both of which were present in her own life. Together they raised three daughters. Hope was a supportive wife and an amazing mother. She showed her children the love of Jesus through her own actions. She also showed them the joy of singing His praises.
Hope was a gifted artist and attended art school. She later earned an Associates degree as a physical therapist assistant and worked for several years, ministering with her hands in home-health care and in special education with the local public school system. Hope's most recent work was to minister to women in prison. There she lovingly shared Christ. Over the years she also coached hundreds of children in swimming as an assistant and head coach of several swim teams; QDD, Stonewall Park and Osbourn High School to name a few.
Hope is survived by her husband, Bill Shaw, and their three daughters Tara Dixon and husband Kent, Karen Shaw and Deanna Shumate and husband John, their 11 grandchildren Sarah, Seth, Emily, Ben, Michael, Katie, Levi, Rachel, Genevieve, Jane and William, Hope's father, Henry Henes and her brother, John Henes and wife Carol and sister, Heidi Henes-VanBergan and husband Nathan. Her mother Hope Henes predeceases her.

Thank you for everyone who has supported our family through Hope's journey with cancer. It was her desire that Christ be glorified through it all. A word from Hope: "I trust in Jesus."
